ESG ImplementationESG Strategy

ESG Implementation

BETS Energy is currently working with a national multi-family property developer to develop comprehensive Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) strategies that focus on reducing the carbon footprint at each of their assets. These properties have purchased "green" energy from renewable energy sources and secured fixed rates over several years. With the assistance of BETS and a national solar developer, the properties are also currently being evaluated for the addition of rooftop and car port solar (PV) arrays, capable of generating on-site renewable energy and reducing their reliance on the local utility grid. The generation of electricity from renewable energy sources will further reduce the property's carbon emissions footprint and improve their ESG scorecard.

EV Charging at NJ Auto DealershipEV Charging

EV Charging at NJ Auto Dealership

The largest Hyundai dealership in NJ has turned to BETS Energy to provide Project Management and Owner's Representation services to address the anticipated upswing in electric and hybrid vehicles manufactured by Hyundai. The Hyundai IONIQ Hybrid will join the Kona Electric in early 2022 and the dealership must be prepared to power these vehicles as they arrive from the port and be prepared for sales and servicing. BETS is managing the electric vehicle (EV) Readiness Process with representatives from Charge Point (the contractor selected by Hyundai) and their consultant to ensure that the necessary power is brought onsite to the proper locations(s) to serve the selected EV chargers (Level 2 and Level 3 Chargers). Interaction with the electrical contractor and the local utility, along with the securitization of grants that off-set the cost of the readiness program and chargers, are part of BETS service and responsibility.

EV Charging Strategy & Implementation – NJ Health Care Systems

BETS Energy has been engaged by two of the largest Health Care Systems in NJ to develop a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) charging implementation strategy for their acute and ambulatory care properties. Serving in the role of Charge System Operator (CSO) BETS has evaluated numerous properties and developed a strategy for the implementation of unique EV solutions that benefit employees, visitors and physicians. The strategy includes a plan to address current and future EV needs at each location, an understanding of available power and the need to upgrade electrical service when necessary. BETS has overseen and commissioned multiple installations of EV chargers in various parking lots and garages. Utility rebates have also been secured by BETS for the costs related to the implementation of EV chargers at each location.

A nation-wide Health Care Real Estate Developer has engaged BETS Energy in the role of Charge System Operator (CSO) to work with their design and construction management teams to evaluate current ambulatory care properties and make recommendations for the proper EV charging solutions for patients, visitors and physicians. The properties include an underground garages as well as open parking lots.

EV Charging – Southern NJ Health Care SystemEV Charging

EV Charging – Southern NJ Health Care System

A large Health Care System in southern New Jersey has engaged BETS Energy to develop a comprehensive electric vehicle (EV) strategy for their acute and ancillary owned and leased properties. Serving in the role of Charge System Operator (CSO), BETS initial project in the system was a new Ambulatory Care Facility & Lab where four Level 2 chargers were installed for doctors, staff, patients and visitors. A utility grant was submitted to Atlantic City Electric to help off-set the cost of the EV charger installation and a $40,000.00 grant was secured. BETS next turned to the flag ship location of the system, currently undergoing a major tower addition, to map out an EV strategy for patients, employees, doctors and visitors. Forty five level 2 chargers, with solid state circuit breaker technology, will be installed in five parking locations in June 2026 for the flag-ship acute care location of the health care system. BETS anticipates installing EV chargers at all acute care centers and larger ambulatory care locations within the system over the next two years.

NJ Utility Rebate SuccessEnergy Grants

NJ Utility Rebate Success

BETS has been engaged by a number of NJ based property owners to submit applications to the various utilities in NJ including JCP&L, PSE&G and AC Electric after helping owners install Level 2 chargers. In one instance, an application was submitted on February 1st of 2024. Over the course of 4 months, BETS interacted with Honeywell (First Energy uses Honeywell as JCP&L's Rebate Administrator) almost 40 times through emails and other correspondence to ensure the application was complete and met all requirements. BETS received notice from Honeywell indicating that the application for $53,600 (8 EV ports x $6,700) was approved and the check was received by the property owner within 45 days. BETS has had the same success nationally with many EV rebate programs including California, Maryland, New York and New Jersey.
